The Bee Garden Community Engagement Program
As part of our mission to increase the number of Stingless Bee Keepers and Stingless Bees across Urban, Rural and Commercial environments, The Bee Garden facilitates a community engagement program whereby we encourage local SEQ residents and businesses to foster a Stingless Bee Hive at their location.
We have been running this program for 7 years are proud to have now grown to operate a network of stewards fostering over 200 hives in varied environments and micro climates throughout SE Qld.
As a steward in this program, we will supply you with everything you need to install and manage a healthy colony of Stingless Bees and your home or workplace, including a fully stocked and healthy Stingless Bee Hive, start picket, hive bracket and weather proof hive cover. You’ll be able to interact and involve yourself in the day to day functions of your hive in as much or as little detail as you like. We’ll personally position the hive with you to ensure the best opportunity for you to observe your Bees and ensure their continued success, give you personal training on how to care for your hive, what pests to look out for, recommendations on flowering plants and answer any questions you may have on an ongoing basis.
A couple of times per year, we’ll drop over to see how they’re going and if they’re strong enough, we’ll split them with you so that we can further expand the reach of the program.
This is an entirely free community program which we’re passionate about and wholly fund ourselves. For the purpose of expanding the program, we maintain ownership of the hives and may take them away if they’re not proving successful in that location or for a short period for commercial pollination purposes.
We’re always looking for more homes and businesses to join the program, so please feel free to contact us today or refer us on to any friends or family you feel would enjoy promoting more Stingless Bees in their area.
